Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)

Overview

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program offers three primary streams for immigration:

  1. Manitoba Employer Direct Stream & International Student Stream

    • Applicants must demonstrate a clear intent to settle permanently in Manitoba.

    • Requires a minimum of 6 months of Manitoba work experience while on a Temporary Work Permit.

    • A permanent, full-time job offer is required from an employer who can show the position could not be filled by a Canadian citizen or permanent resident; the job should provide competitive wages.

    • Candidates must meet the job’s education, training, licensing, or certification requirements.

    • Applicants should show a stronger employment connection to Manitoba than to any other province.

    • Alternatively, applicants may qualify by completing one academic year in a Manitoba post-secondary program, holding a Post-Graduation Work Permit, and being employed in Manitoba with a full-time, permanent job offer.

  2. Skilled Workers with a Connection to Manitoba

    • For applicants with past employment in Manitoba of at least six consecutive months, supported by a signed employer letter and a valid work permit.

    • Includes international graduates who completed authorized programs in Manitoba (excluding language-only programs) with supporting study permit, transcripts, and completion evidence.

  3. Express Entry Stream for Manitoba Immigration

    • A sub-stream for a limited number of MPNP applicants aligned with the federal Express Entry system.

    • Candidates are typically selected from the Skilled Worker Overseas stream that already has an existing MPNP file.

    • Eligibility requires meeting at least one federal economic program’s criteria and submitting a full Educational Credentials Assessment.

    • Applicants must demonstrate sufficient settlement funds and complete an Express Entry profile, sharing Express Entry ID and Job Seeker validation codes with the MPNP.

Nomination under the MPNP does not guarantee federal approval. Candidates must first satisfy MPNP criteria and then provide evidence they meet federal requirements for permanent residence through the Express Entry or federal PR process.
